The Month of November in Automotive History

November 10, 1885

On this day in 1885, the first test ride of what is often considered the first modern  motorcycle, the Daimler Reitwagen (“riding car”), occurred.

November 6, 1893

Edsel Ford is born.

November 3, 1900

The first modern auto show began at Madison Square Garden in New York City on this day in 1900. This was not the first auto show, nor was it even the first show at Madison Square Garden, but it was the first big show. Like, really big. It was also the first sanctioned show by a nation organization, sponsored by the Automobile Club of America.

November 12, 1908

GM buys Oldsmobile.

November 9, 1937

A patent was issued for the Arrowbile, the first flying car!

November 14, 1996

General Motors released its first  electric car, the  EV1. Manufactured in Lansing, Michigan, the EV1 had a range of 70-90 miles before requiring a recharge
